On Wednesday 22nd October, author Phil Earle inspired students in Year 7 and 10 with his gripping stories and passionate speeches; his informative tales left the students motivated to both read and write. Phil’s writing philosophy is to, “write about characters you deeply love, but put them in horrible situations”, and this produces books with difficult moral situations that teenagers love to read. Phil Earle is an acclaimed writer; his book Being Billy won the We Read Teen Readers prize in 2012, Heroic was on the shortlist in 2014 and his newest book The Bubble Wrap Boy is on the long list for the Carnegie Prize in 2015. EBS would like to thank Phil Earle for reminding students and staff about the adventures to be found in reading for pleasure.
