Academy Status

East Barnet School achieved Academy status in April 2011, being responsible for its own governance and management. EBS is its own admissions authority, however, all applications continue to be made through the London Borough of Barnet.

The Academy Trust is an exempt charitable company limited by guarantee and known as East Barnet School, incorporated on 4th March 2011. The charitable company’s Memorandum and Articles of Association are the primary governing documents of the Academy Trust. Certain Governors act as the Trustees for the charitable activities of East Barnet School and all Governors are the directors of the charitable company for the purposes of company law. The Academy receives funding primarily from the Education Funding Authority but also the London Borough of Barnet and is an employer of its own staff (see Funding Agreement and Deed of Variation).

The accounting period is the year from 1st September to 31st August but it should be noted that the initial accounting period was 17 months from 1st April 2011 to 31st August 2012.
