What is the PTFA?

PTFA stands for Parent Teacher and Friends Association, and is therefore open to lots of people in the EBS community!

East Barnet PTFA organises fund-raising events to pay for equipment and facilities that the school could not otherwise afford to buy. We arrange events where the wider school community can come together, get to know each other and have a good time – and hopefully make money for our appeals.

We are a registered charity, whose aims include advancing the education of the students of the school by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the school (not normally provided by the local authority). We engage in activities which support the school and the students attending it and at the same time try to foster more extended relationships between the staff, parents, and others associated with the school.

Registered Charity Number: 291368

Current PTFA Appeal: IT Equipment

We are excited to announce that our current main fundraising drive is for IT Equipment. Equipment purchased by the school when and since moving into the new building in 2010 now needs replacing. This includes laptops and other IT equipment used by students and teachers across all the curriculum.

Whether it is attending meetings, or helping out at events, we want to hear from you. Just a few hours a month could change the lives of the students.

In addition to helping the students, the PTFA is a great community, running socials throughout the year; a great opportunity to meet like-minded people with the same goals.

Have you got the next big idea? Perhaps you have connections with companies that can help, or a skillset that will take the PTFA to the next level – if so, please get in touch.

Come along to a meeting, contact a committee member, leave your name with the school, send an email, but …  GET INVOLVED! Watch out for our events advertised in the school newsletter or on this website, then join in and have fun!

PTA Magazine

You can also access where you can sign up for info from East Barnet School PTFA and be part of it even if you can’t attend meetings. You need firstly to click on ‘Find my PTA’ then ‘Join in Now’ and you can join just as a parent / family member, or as a committee member. There is a wealth of information on the site as well as material the committee can put up relating specifically to East Barnet PTFA. There are also many offers and discounts open to all parents, which you may want to take advantage of.

Ways to Donate

If you would like to know how to donate, you can click on the logos below, which will give you instructions for each different channel. Some of the donation formats actually cost you nothing, they are done on referrals or by shopping at slightly different URLs.

As a registered charity, we can also claim Gift Aid on any donation you make, giving us an extra 28p for every pound! Donations by standing order are an easy way for you to regularly contribute to our fund-raising. Gift Aid Forms are available here. Whether you are making a one-off payment, or are giving regularly by standing order, DON’T FORGET to complete and return your form so we can reclaim the tax you have already paid to the government. If you pay tax at the higher rate, you can claim further tax relief in your Self-Assessment tax return. If you are unsure whether your donation would qualify for Gift Aid tax relief, contact the PTFA or see leaflet IR65 from the tax office.

Did you know you can also donate all or part of your tax repayment using you self assessment return? Tick the box at 19A.1 to give it all, or specify a maximum amount in box 19A.2. Enter code WAL91NG in box 19A.3 and be sure to also tick box 19A.4 to apply Gift Aid and give an extra 28% at no extra cost to you.

We Need Your Support!

The PTA really needs the support of the entire EBS community if they are to continue to raise vital funds for our school through events and other fundraising means. For more information, please e-mail Stuart Gates at or speak to the PTFA Liaison, in the School Front Office. Thank you.

The PTA regularly organise special fundraising events to raise money for new school equipment and initiatives. Check out our school calendar to find out about upcoming PTFA events. Check out EBS News for reports from previous PTFA events!

More about the EBS PTFA Lottery

Our lottery is run by the EBS PTFA. As PTFA members are volunteers all profits go directly to the school, so taking part really will benefit the students. Each year you have:

  • 33 chances to win – 3 prizes each month
  • prizes from £300 to £15
  • a total prize fund of £1,500

All for £15 a year!!

For a chance to win just purchase a number via your ParentPay account*. You will be allocated a random number between 1 and 250 and details will be sent to you by email.

How many numbers can I buy?

Buy as many as you like and increase your chances to win!

What happens if there are no winners in a draw?

If a number is drawn that is not owned by anyone, the winnings are put into the PTFA fund to be used in the school – happy days!

How will I know if I have won?

If you win, every member of the PTFA will stand on your doorstep with balloons, party poppers, banners and the local press. Ok, maybe not, but we will send you an email (and a cheque)!

How else can I renew or join?

To prevent the possibility of missing out on a win and having to renew each year, you can set up an annual standing order with your bank – just e-mail: for information. You can keep your existing number (or select an available number) if you choose.
