If you require any further information about the curriculum we are following in this subject, please contact the Head of Department.
The A-Level course is over the duration of two academic years. Students will explore a variety of disciplines including painting and drawing; printmaking; ceramics; sculpture; mixed media and lens-based media.
We offer the Fine Art endorsement of the Edexcel Art and Design syllabus. The course is popular, successful and prepares students for the demands of a foundation diploma and, ultimately, a design or art based
degree.
The Art Department has developed an environment where students are encouraged to experiment and take risks in their creative work. Students have the opportunity to study painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture,
ceramics, mixed media and lens based media. We have a well-equipped A-Level Art Studio space where students have individual large work tables, easels and floor space in which to work. Students are encouraged
to use this space beyond their timetabled lessons. We also have a dedicated Art room for Year 12 and 13 Art students where we hold lectures and life drawing classes.
Our Open Evening will be on Monday 30th September 5:30pm - 8:00pm with the Headteacher's speech at 7:30pm. Sign up to get early information on what will be happening, plus, ask us a question - we are going to try and answer some at the speeches!
